Plano Glue Press:
I had my sights on the Plano Glue Press for a few years, I've just always lacked the funds. I decided that this year 2008 if my 2007 tax refund had enough money left after paying a bunch of Vet bills for two of my cats I would buy the glue press. Well fortunately it all worked out and on a Wednesday morning in February I noticed my refund was deposited into my checking account. I noticed Amazon.com and Advanced Machine direct had it for the same price. Normally I try to support the little guy but I was in a rush and I knew I could have it on order with Amazon.com with 1 click. So that's what I did. That evening I received a tracking number directly from the manufacturer. Friday morning the package was delivered to my place of work.  This is a great start and speaks well for the order entry system between Amazon.com and the distributor as well as the distributors ability to process the order quickly. Upon reading the installation instructions I decided I might as well order an extra 39" rail and plan for future expansion now. For purchasing the rail I went directly to the Advanced Machinery website. I minor gripe is I received no confirmation email upon placing my order.

Unpacking:

The system arrived very well packed and in good shape. The clamp pieces were all
interlocked making for a small but heavy shipping carton. A quick scan of the
contents revealed all the parts were included and no quality issues apparent.
The contents included the following:

  • 1 Mounting rail
  • 6 Pressure rails, 3 front and 3 rear
  • 3 Small parts bags, and tightening knobs
  • 6 Stops, 3 top and 3 bottom
  • 12 Edge protection strips
  • 1 Instruction sheet

Assembly:

To begin I'm not assembling the system in the exact order of the instructions.
I'm doing so pre-assembly in front of my computer so I can write the details as
I progress until a trip to the shop is mandatory.

1.The first thing I did was attach the edge protection strips to the pressure
rails. There's a few things to take note of with the strips. They are shorter
then the pressure rails and for a good reason. The bottom of the pressure rails
fit onto a plastic foot. This is obvious on the rear clamping rail where the
foot is attached but you may miss this detail if you start with a front pressure
rail. Therefore on the front pressure rails, the ones without the foot, be sure
to install the edge protection strip flush to the same end on both sides of the
pressure rail. To be continued...............
